Finding a good series to watch started feeling like a task due to the high volume of choices. I may have contributed to this burden by subscribing to 6 different streaming platforms, but that’s beside the point – the hunt makes the kill that much sweeter. So, when I finally found Raised By Wolves, I knew I was in for a treat.
The series takes place in another world as Earth is being destroyed by a war between religious fundamentalists and militant atheists. The story follows two androids who arrived on the new planet with the task of incubating human embryos and raising them as their own children. Viewers quickly learn there is more to the mission.
I usually enjoy science fiction because for me, it’s a form of escapism. This series was able to transport me to another world but despite the juxtaposition to my own circumstances, I found myself relating to the series. It explores topics like war, violence, hunting, survival and parenthood – but in an abstract and fascinating manner.
